We are again heading to the Passionate Palate Café at Kanahooka with more of the best singers and songwriters that the Illawarra has. Each will sing 3 or 4 of their own compositions and perhaps one cover. Not only that, but we will be enjoying a meal and a drink from the Passionate Palate's very good menu. AND THE PASSIONATE PALATE IS LICENSED so it will be a great social afternoon

SHALANI: Not all folkies are aspiring Octogenarians and Shalani proves the point. A member of the three piece group, Dear Violet, Shalani has already started on a songwriting career and is studying music.

MAURIE MULHERON:
a veteran Singer songwriter and producer of a number of musical shows including 'One Word We' and 'How Can I Keep from Singing'. A former President of the NSW Teachers Federation, his songs have great cleverness and political incisiveness.

PAUL SPENCER: Paul Spencer writes quirky comic political folk songs to entertain the activist in you or re-energise the jaded cynic (and sometimes to indulge the cynic, for a bit of fun). Using some folk tunes and some original tunes, Paul’s songs come from the human experience of the social change movement and of living in a world that’s so beautiful, so alarming and so inspiring all at the same time.

THE CALAMITIES: The Calamities are Stuart Alexander and Kylie Gass, a local Duo that emerged from the ruins of several Wollongong and Sydney rock bands of the 80’s and 90’s. They write a lot of their own material, based on various life experiences (living in a Datsun 180b, the life of fly in- fly out worker, or avoiding work altogether) as well as numerous covers.

MARGARET BRADFORD: Margaret Bradford is one of the most prolific songwriters around and is almost an Illawarrian having lived for years in Engadine, She is a folk historian in that she brings to life some of the great Characters of Australia's past particularly the unsung women, From 'Bindy Eye Bop' for kids to songs about the famous Jesse Street (remember her) she will have you reaching for your history books. She has a number of CDs under her belt.

NEIL ROWSELL: yes, our own Neil who of course is the leader of one of the Illawarra’s busiest bands, Chord-eaux and runs the Figgie Sessions. He has also put a number of the poems of the late Coal Miner, Len Leffley to music.

Now you will want to know how to get there and what to do. If you are worried about Covid the venue is indoor outdoor and the bigger danger is if you are not undercover, you could be pooped on by a pelican.

The address of the Passionate Palate is 1 Stanthorpe Drive Kanahooka. The best way to explain it is to head East along Kanahooka Rd, pass the cemetery and then Hayes Park Public School (on the left). Immediately you pass the school, there is a roundabout. Turn left and you will go down the hill through a gate (It is a gated estate called Forest Grove but gates are always open) and a couple of hundred metres down the hill you will come to a lake and presto!! there before you will be the Passionate Palate Café
