Imagination Station is coming to Merivale.
Event description
Imagination Station is coming to Merivale!
Date: Tuesday July 4th
The team from Imagination Station are coming to present four LEGO based sessions at Merivale Mall.
(Please note: Session 1 & 2 do require support from a parent or caregiver, however we will have a DUPLO area for younger siblings to be entertained within a closed off area)
Session 1, 9.30am-10.30am: My First Robotics with LEGO WeDo 2.0 (60min, ages 5-8)
Maximum 10 students. (parent or caregiver support required)
Try out some of Imagination Station's most accessible robotics equipment in this class aimed at introducing children to programming, robotics and mechanics in a fun and interactive way! We will use sensors, make noises, and think about how to give our robot friend some personality! This is a really great opportunity for learning together, and a great opportunity for students as young as five to have a go and explore robotics.
Session 2, 11.00am-12.00pm: Technic Starter (60min, ages 5-8)
Maximum 16 students. (parent or caregiver support required)
Come along to this exciting sixty-minute session to learn all about how to build with LEGO Technic. LEGO Technic uses a system of pins, axels, lift arms, gears, and other specialised building parts to create structures designed to move. We have a variety of simple machines that students can copy and improve on. A catapult, a rubber band car, a grabbing machine and more!
Session 3, 1.00pm-2.30pm: Science in Sport (90min, ages 8-12)
Maximum 6 students
Use LEGO Technic to explore how physics and mechanics can help or hinder us in sports. Explore momentum, drag, angles, pneumatics and more! Students will have instructions to follow for their model, but once they feel confident, we can give them some extra challenges to improve the design and they can modify their machine to make it one of a kind!
Session 4, 3.00pm-4.30pm: SPIKE Prime Explorer (90min, ages 8-12)
Maximum 12 students
Explore robotics with Imagination Station. We'll have a selection of projects for you to choose from to help discover how robots use sensors, motors, and code to collect information and respond to the world around them, plus you'll build your own using our LEGO SPIKE Prime robotics equipment.
