Term 3 Creative Workshop Series

This term, we're excited to offer a five-week creative workshop series for young people in the Goulburn Valley.

✏️ Youth Creative Writing & Illustrating Workshop Series | Authors & Illustrators

Weeks 6–10 (Monday 17 August – Monday 14 September)

Nurturing imagination through writing, illustration, Book Making, storytelling and the launch of each young creator's very own Writer's Notebook.

Both workshop series are held on Monday evenings at Scott's Hall, Shepparton, with two small-group sessions designed to support different ages, confidence levels and stages of creative development.

Creative Writing Workshop Series:

AUTHORS & ILLUSTRATORS

Imagine a place where wonder is welcomed, imagination is nurtured, and stories begin with a single spark of curiosity.

At A Little Messy Productions, we believe every young person has a story worth telling.

Our Creative Writing Workshop Series invites young writers and illustrators to explore ideas, experiment with words and images, and discover the joy of bringing stories to life. Through playful provocations, beautiful literature, Book Making, illustration and storytelling, young creators will be encouraged to imagine boldly, express themselves confidently and celebrate their unique creative voice.

Term 3 | Weeks 6–10

This five-week series runs across the second half of Term 3 on Monday evenings at the same welcoming location as our Drama Workshops.

With intentionally small group sizes, every young writer and illustrator is known, supported and encouraged as they grow in confidence and creativity.

Every young creator will begin their own Writer's Notebook.

A Writer's Notebook is more than just a notebook.

It is a place to collect ideas, notice the world, sketch, wonder, experiment with words, record little moments and discover your own unique storytelling voice.

Throughout the series, this notebook will become a treasured creative companion ~ one that young writers can continue filling long after the workshops finish.

Because every great story begins somewhere.

Young Authors & Illustrators

Primary School Age

5:00pm – 6:00pm

Ideal for younger students, those ready to explore creative writing, or children who enjoy a smaller, gentle and nurturing group environment.

Young creators will explore storytelling through the art of Book Making ~ imagining, writing, illustrating and crafting their very own handmade book to treasure and take home. Along the way they'll play with ideas, experiment with language, discover beautiful picture books and experience the joy of seeing a story come to life from beginning to end.

Emerging Authors & Illustrators

Grades 4–Year 9

6:15pm – 7:15pm

Ideal for older students or those ready for a deeper creative experience.

Young writers will build a Writer's Notebook practice while exploring storytelling, character development, world building, poetry, illustration and visual storytelling. Through discussion, experimentation and creative challenges, participants will continue developing their unique writing voice and confidence as storytellers.

Throughout the series, young creators will explore...

• launching their very own Writer's Notebook

• collecting ideas and noticing the world around them

• storytelling, character development and world building

• illustration as a visual storytelling tool

• Book Making ~ writing, illustrating and crafting a handmade storybook

• poetry, prose and playful experimentation with words

• sharing, reflection and celebrating creative work

• discovering that stories can begin with a picture, a question, a memory, a tiny moment or simply a spark of wonder

Whether your young person is a word wizard, a curious storyteller, a quiet dreamer or an artist whose ideas begin with pictures...

there is a place for them here.

No two stories are ever the same.

No two creators are ever the same.

And that's exactly how we believe it should be.

This workshop is perfect for...

• young people who love writing, drawing, reading or storytelling

• children wanting to build confidence in expressing themselves through words and illustration

• beginners through to experienced young writers and artists

• young people looking for a welcoming creative community where imagination is celebrated

Our hope...

That every young creator leaves with more than stories.

They leave with greater confidence.

A Writer's Notebook full of ideas.

The courage to keep creating.

And the belief that their voice matters.

We can't wait to welcome another group of young authors and illustrators into our creative community.
