Imbolc Ritual & Celebration
Event description
Join Earthstar and Nicki on Saturday 9th August in the hall at the Mount Egerton Recreation Reserve between 1pm and 5pm to celebrate the turning of the Wheel.
Imbolc marks a cross-quarter point on the wheel, midway between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox. Sometimes known as Candlemas, or St Brigid's Day, this is the time when we celebrate the return of the light and set our intentions for the year ahead.
Imbolc literally translates to “in the belly” which is a perfect representation of what is occurring at this moment in nature; although we can’t see it, the seeds are beginning to stir underground as they prepare for their birth at spring. So we can ask ourselves: What is stirring within us that is yearning to be brought forth and birthed? Or what do we need to clear in order to make way for the new at Springtime?
Just as a baby is cradled and nurtured within the womb for 9 months, we must nurture and incubate our own ideas and goals before they are birthed into the world. What ideas have been floating around in your mind that you’re wanting to bring to fruition? Are there goals you are wanting to set but haven’t taken the space and time to really commit to them? Those are the types of intentions you want to be setting at Imbolc so that they are ready to be birthed and manifested at the Spring Equinox!
You can expect a cosy indoor gathering with the following:
✨ You will be smudged on arrival prior to entering the space
✨ Calling the Directions as a group
✨ Teachings around the significance of this time of the year
✨ Crafting St Brigid’s Crosses from locally foraged materials to take home and place on your altar
✨ Imbolc Ritual
✨ Nourishing afternoon tea
✨ Teachings around herbal allies and practices for this time of year
✨ Singing & drumming around the fire (outdoors)
Please let us know about any dietary restrictions in the comment section when you purchase your ticket and we will be sure to accommodate you.
We are looking forward to sharing a nourishing afternoon with you, steeped in ritual and ceremony as we celebrate this point in the Wheel. You are welcome to dress up for this event if you wish! Traditional colours are white, yellow and green.
The second part of the gathering will be our Singing & Drumming Circle. Bring along your voice, your drum if you have one (other musical instruments are most welcome, or stamp your feet and clap your hands, drum your heartbeat on your chest - all forms of joyous self expression are welcome!). We will provide a basket of small percussion instruments to share, such as rattles and clap sticks... don't let not owning a drum be a reason to miss out!
There will be plenty of time throughout the afternoon to sink your roots in deeply and connect with the others who have come along.
We are so looking forward to singing and drumming with you! Cultivating joy and raising our collective vibration as we celebrate the turning of the Wheel.
Love, Earthstar & Nicki
