What is IMESAFR? 

Institute of Makers of Explosives Safety Analysis for Risk (IMESAFR) is a probabilistic risk assessment tool used to calculate risk to personnel from explosives facilities. This tool is a supplement to the longstanding American Table of Distances (ATD) and other Quantity/Distance (QD) systems. Whereas QD provides a level of safety based on explosives quantity and distance, IMESAFR determines a level of safety based upon risk. In addition to explosives quantity and distance, IMESAFR uses the donor structure, the activity at the donor, and the structure of the exposed sites to determine the level of safety.

Who should attend?
Explosives regulators, explosives suppliers, drill and blast personnel and independent consultants.

Details for students:

• APT will provide all training material/binders needed for the course.
• Each student will receive a unique certification number upon successful completion of the certification exam at the end of the regular IMESAFR class. All students attending the optional AN Module will be granted access to the restricted AN portion of the software.
• Each student will receive an IMESAFR v2.2 temporary license to use during the class that will expire 21 days after the class. 
• A full annual license can be purchased at US $2,000 per student to continue using the software beyond the trial period.

Delegates will need their own laptop that APT will load temporary software on. APT will communicate with the students approximately two weeks before the class to assist with software and ensure student computers and programs are prepared for the class e.g. avoiding firewalls.

• 3 day IMESAFR Version 2.2 Practitioner training for explosives (for those only wanting Class 1) AUD$4800 per student
