IMF International Women's Day WARRIOR Fun Run/Walk
Event description
Cairns Deadly Runners and Walkers is excited to host this year’s IMF International Women’s Day WARRIOR – Jacinta (Cinta) Smith-Robins.
This FREE 3km community fun run and walking event will celebrate and acknowledge Jacinta, and all the great women in our lives and communities.
When: 5.30pm on Friday 22nd March
Where: Fun Ship Parklands, Cairns Esplanade
Cinta is a Wangkumara woman from Bourke, NSW. She graduated through the Indigenous Marathon Project in 2016 as IMP Graduate #65 after finishing the TCS New York City Marathon. In 2021, Cinta’s younger sister Bonnie followed in her footsteps becoming IMP Graduate #122.
Cinta is a mother of two and has conquered two marathons which she shares are her proudest running achievements. Last year Cinta ran Melbourne Marathon with a really powerful purpose, to mark ten years since the birth of her twin daughters who were born stillborn. Cinta raised awareness and funds for the Stillbirth Foundation Australia and sparked important conversations surrounding stillbirth – creating space for others to share their story.
We look forward to sharing more about Cinta and celebrating her journey, and all the other powerful women in our lives. They are the backbone of our families and communities. Join me, the IMF and our RAW Run Leaders and groups this year, and help us celebrate powerful and inspirational women like Cinta.
All participants will receive the special 2024 Women's WARRIOR medal featuring Jacinta.
Join us and celebrate, show appreciation, and recognise the great women in our lives.
