2023 Theme: Immersion in Nature
Nature is pure, true to itself, solid and although forever changing, never ceases to be. It can be harsh, nurturing, create calm and unrest. It truly has it’s own soul that touches us all. Richard Louv, (author of “Last child in the woods”), exposes nature as the foundation of imagination, innovation, autonomy, decision making, analysis and most importantly safety, mindfulness and play.
Nature creates it’s own ecosystem where each part, including humans, must rely on others to exist and survive. We look forward to seeing our wonderful artists interpretation of “Immersion in Nature”, what truly brings joy and encapsulates their connection to nature in an expressive and creative way.
Our annual exhibition has seen artists impacted by Mental Illness express thoughts and insight into their individual recovery, wellbeing and therapy. It has also helped artists open up, change and grow through the experience of exhibiting, connecting with others of lived experience or family and friends, and having their work affirmed by the public and wider audience. The conversation has always been open, educational and comforting in this very welcoming and safe space.
Many of those who are impacted by Mental Illness utilise art as a tool for expression, wellbeing and therapy. Individual recovery is our journey and often mediums such as Art and other creative forms help people grow and change in this process.
