Once a month, the Impact Story Lab opens its doors to Sydney’s community of changemakers, storytellers and creatives.

This September, we’re opening the doors a little wider with an Open House alongside our regular Co-Working Day.

And there’s more happening this time. We’re introducing a new way for the community to share their ideas and knowledge, creating space for a little nature-inspired reflection, and inviting you to explore more of what’s possible at the Lab.

Come for a productive day of coworking, stay for the conversations, connections and new ideas that emerge along the way.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Our coworking days are intentionally relaxed. There are no forced networking activities - just thoughtful people sharing a creative, welcoming space.

Throughout the day, you’ll find opportunities for:

• Focused coworking

• Informal conversations

• New connections and collaborations

• Tours of the Lab and its production facilities

• Conversations about events, workshops and partnerships

• Podcast, recording and production enquiries

• Tea, coffee and time with the community

Bring your laptop, settle in and enjoy a productive day alongside storytellers, researchers, creatives, community builders and changemakers.

WHAT’S HAPPENING ON THE DAY
💻 From 9 am | Co-Working + Open House

Settle in and work from the Lab, meet the community, explore the space and discover what’s possible here.

Throughout the day, you can cowork, connect with others, tour the Lab and chat with our team about events, workshops, podcasting, production and partnerships.
Who it’s for

You’re welcome whether you’re:

• Building a social enterprise

• Working in a purpose-driven organisation

• Producing a podcast, film or creative project

• Freelancing, researching or studying

• Organising communities or campaigns

• Looking for collaborators

• Simply seeking a more inspiring place to work

🌿 10 - 11 am | Guided Nature Journaling

Start the day with a guided nature journaling session designed to help you slow down, observe and find a fresh perspective on a challenge in your work or studies.
No drawing experience is needed, and all materials are provided.

Separate booking required.
Entry: $20 or 20 acceptable waste items, and help EnvironmentallyAbled redirect 10,000 kg of "waste" from landfill and give them a second life. List of acceptable “waste” items.

🥙 Lunch | Falafel Republic Cafe

Take a break and connect over lunch from local Darlinghurst favourite Falafel Republic Cafe, known for homemade falafel, Lebanese ice cream and rice pudding, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options.

Tea and coffee will also be available throughout the day.

2PM | Info Session: Audio & Video Podcast Program

Thinking about starting a podcast series but not sure where to start? Drop into this short info session to hear how the Audio & Video Podcast Program works, from planning your first episode through to recording it at the Lab. We'll also take you through our new podcast studio so that you can see the space and setup for yourself.

💡 NEW: Knowledge Exchange Pitch Hour | 4-5 pm

We’re excited to introduce something new to our Co-Working Days: the Knowledge Exchange Pitch Hour!

Have an idea, skill, experience or perspective you’d love to share with the Impact Story Lab community? This is your chance to put it forward.

Pitch an idea for a workshop, conversation, skill-share, creative activity or another kind of knowledge exchange. Selected ideas will be invited to become a one-hour session at a future Co-Working Day, giving you the space to share what you know and create something valuable with the community.
We’re looking for ideas that align with the Impact Story Lab ethos, contributing to stories, ideas, practices or conversations that help create a better world.

Drop in for a tour or a conversation about events, partnerships, podcasting or production.

Registration is requested so we can manage tours and make time for relevant introductions. Timing to be announced to registrants as it becomes available for booking.
