This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Growing a catalytic funding environment is essential for projects which need medium-term support towards financial sustainability. This will develop investment readiness pathways towards the recently launched $20M WA Impact Fund.

This forum, to be
presented in person by Sefa CEO Hanna Ebeling and Impact Seed Founding Director Kylie Hansen will deep dive into what catalytic impact investment is, how it works, and will feature case studies showcasing 3 of WA's leading impact investment projects and social entrepreneurs who are currently building their investment readiness to take on blended finance.

LIMITED TICKETS AVAILABLE FOR GENERAL BOOKINGS (for funders, foundations, investors, and government agencies)

What is blended finance?

Blended finance is an innovative and critical form of impact investment, in which philanthropic contributions, concessionary capital and other investments are packaged together to enable for-profit and NFP investable impact projects and social enterprises to achieve long-term financial sustainability. This results in accelerated delivery of their impact outcomes.

What will I take away from this event?

In this masterclass we will explore different types of blended finance using case studies, illustrating development pathways for enterprises towards funds like the WA Impact Fund; different flexible investment structures and integrated funding mechanisms; the role of intermediaries in bridging philanthropic 'impact-first' funders and 'finance-first' impact investment, and increasing the capability of enterprise projects towards investment readiness.
Through this event and beyond we will be working with WA's grant making foundations and organisations to grow the pool of riskier capital with philanthropy unlocking impact across three angles: ‘first-loss’ layers, concessionary finance and investment readiness.

Who is the audience for this event?

This masterclass is especially designed for funders, foundations, investors and government agencies.

THIS IS AN INVITE-ONLY EVENT WITH A SMALL NUMBER OF PUBLIC TICKETS AVAILABLE EXLCUSIVELY FOR FUNDERS, INVESTORS, ADVISORS AND GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, AND A CAPACITY OF 30 INVITEES.

This webinar is supported through funding from the Government of Western Australia's X-TEND New Industries Fund.

About the presenters

Hanna Ebeling, Acting CEO of Sefa

Hanna has done far too much to cram into this bio — perhaps it’s her German efficiency. From traditional banking with HSBC to impact investment in the Philippines, Hanna brings a global practice lens to Sefa as Chief Executive Officer. She is on the board of Woodville Alliance, and works with the Prime Minister’s Community Business Partnership to improve collaboration between government, private sector, and philanthropy. At home you’ll find her preparing dehydrated meals for her next bushwalk or studying for her Australian citizenship test.

Kylie is a passionate advocate and leading capacity builder across the WA not-for-profit, government, social enterprise sectors, and is well recognised for her high quality impact in these areas over the past 10 years.

Kylie sits on a number of WA boards and committees, including Linkwest, SCALES Community Legal Centre, AIESEC WA Board of Advice, the Fairbridge Centre for Social Innovation, the Social Impact Measurement Network – Western Australia, and the Alumni for Social Impact at UWA, and is a former mentor with the School for Social Entrepreneurs, and former CEO of Cambodian-Australian social enterprise Empowering Communities.  She holds Graduate Certificates in Social Impact and Project Management; Bachelor of Community Development; Bachelor of Commerce; Bachelor of Arts, and Juris Doctor (Postgraduate Law) UWA.
