Implementation Science for Health Professionals Short Course (Campbell Town, TAS)

You are warmly invited to attend the free, in-person 'Implementation Science for Health Professionals Short Course', hosted by the Tasmanian Collaboration for Health Improvement (TCHI) and facilitated by Associate Professor Pieter Van Dam and Associate Professor Sharon Andrews from the University of Tasmania’s School of Nursing. Both facilitators are recognised leaders in implementation science, with extensive experience in research, education and the practical application of implementation approaches in healthcare settings.

This course is offered free of charge through the generous sponsorship of TCHI. It supports the delivery of a fully catered, state-wide professional development opportunity in Campbell Town, Tasmania, a centrally located venue that enables participation from across the state.

Implementation science is “the scientific study of methods to promote the systematic uptake of research findings and other Evidence Based Practice into routine practice, aiming to improve the quality and effectiveness of health services”.

Learn the skills and knowledge required to successfully implement evidence -based interventions within your workplace aiming to improve the quality and effectiveness of your health service.

About this short course

This short course will consist of a one-day intensive, in-person workshop in addition to six hours of online learning to be completed over a two-week period. The course will guide health care professionals to engage with implementation science principles and frameworks, and support those who wish to engage in evidence-based sustainable health care improvement.

The content of this interactive short course will cover:

• What is implementation science

• Why is it important

• How is implementation science carried out

• Gap analysis and logic models

• The importance of collaboration and stakeholder engagement as a focus point

The course is based on current literature and the authors’ experience as researchers in the field. By undertaking this course you may be entitled to claim 12 CPD points.

Who should attend?

This short course is designed for Tasmanian health professionals, researchers, policy makers, advocates, and community members seeking to expand their knowledge and skillset in implementation science. It will support participants to understand and apply implementation approaches within health service settings, facilitating the uptake of evidence-based practice across the health system.

What you will learn

We use an interactive approach to teach the skills and knowledge required to implement research findings and best practice.

On completion of this short course, you will:

1. have gained knowledge of implementation science concepts and frameworks.

2. be able to identify how implementation science can promote the sustainable uptake of research findings and other evidence-based practices into routine practice.

3. be able to identify frameworks and methods used in implementation science.

4. have practical knowledge to apply implementation science in your workplace.

The short course provides practical tools to enable you to support the implementation of research evidence into policy and practice including collaboration, engagement, evaluation, implementation theory and behaviour change.
