Event description

Join our Senior Conservator, Pete Zajecek, for a special access tour of the State Library’s storage areas and Preservation Studio to see how the Library implements preventative preservation activities.

The State Library is the pre-eminent keeper of South Australia's stories and history. However, without proper care, these precious collections can succumb to the ravages of time.

Learn about the preventive preservation techniques we need to consider when caring for the state's collections, including:

  • environment - controlling light and ultraviolet radiation, humidity and temperature, biological pests, and dust and pollutants
  • good handling, transportation, storage and display techniques
  • disaster preparedness.

Applying these preventive methods to the collections can prolong and protect their life for current and future generations.

Join the Senior Conservator of the SLSA on a tour of the library’s storage holdings and preservation studio to see how the library implement preventative preservation activities.
