Join expert teacher and Head of English Therese Turner-Jones, as she provides an overview of the new English Syllabus for years 7¬10 and shares a range of practical strategies and resources designed to help set your students up for success in secondary English.

This session will include:

a concise overview of the key changes to the structure and content of the new English 7-10 Syllabus
a range of tips and advice for planning and implementing the new curriculum successfully
a range of practical strategies to help teachers embed grammar and literacy skills in engaging and meaningful ways so all students in mixed-ability classrooms experience success
a demonstration of the new features and digital resources offered in Oxford’s upcoming edition of Oxford MyEnglish 7–10 New South Wales Curriculum.

Therese Turner-Jones
Head of English at Wenona School

Named on The Educator's 2022 Hot List (December 2022) and winner of the 2022 Most Influential Educator award, Therese is committed to excellence and ambitious to make a difference. Therese’s students have enjoyed the breadth and depth of the learning experiences provided in her classroom practice. Therese’s philosophy is that she is privileged to teach her students, and she is always in constant awe of what the students bring to their study of English.

Enriching the lives of students through reading great literature inspires and motivates the planning and delivery of Therese’s lessons. In 2013 Therese completed an International Study in Educational Leadership in Finland, Scotland and England which inspired the literature review for her Masters of Education (Leadership), focused on leadership of school improvement which extends the potential and capabilities of teachers to lead within organisations.
