The Importance of Being Earnest
Description
The Importance of Being Earnest
Written by Oscar Wilde
Directed by Lori Emmett
A witty comedy with a side of romance, 'Earnest' is all about making high drama out of the smallest trivialities, and was written to poke fun at Wilde's 1890's contemporaries. Sticking, for the most part, to the era in which the play was written, this production aims to highlight the innate sarcasm and humour of Wilde's words.
Jack has a dilemma. Mainly that his name isn't Ernest, despite what he might have told his friends, and even the woman he wants to marry. A woman who is very much looking forward to marrying a man named Ernest.
Not to worry though, as he has a very simple plan to rectify this situation.
A simple plan that becomes decidedly more complicated when his best friend Algernon, a perpetual trouble maker and 'confirmed bunburyist', gets wind of it.
Join Jack and Algernon as they try to win the hands of their true loves, avoid the disapproval of the formidable Lady Bracknell, and generally come around to the point of, possibly, for once, being earnest.
Suitable for all ages, concession tickets available, canteen open at intermission, four performances only. Get your friends and family together and make sure no one misses out on this one!
