    Event description

Imprisoning a Generation is a feature-length documentary film following the stories of four young Palestinians who have been detained and imprisoned under the Israeli military and political systems. Their perspectives, along with the voices of their families, form a lens into the entangled structures of oppression that expand well beyond the prison walls.

The screening of Imprisoning a Generation will be followed by a facilitated discussion with community members with lived experience of Israeli occupation. We ask everyone to bring their curiosity, and their care, to this conversation.

Because of the themes in this film and the testimonies of the children, this is not a film suitable for younger audiences.

Doors open at 6pm for a the film to begin at 6.30pm.

All proceeds will be donated to the MA'AN Development Center, a Palestinian development and training organisation that works in Gaza, Khan Younis, Tulkarem and Jenin. They are currently delivering aid packages within Gaza.

    Venue and accessibility:

    • This screening will be in the Theatre, which is on the first floor of the Te Rauparaha Arena complex (stairs to the left of the pool entry).
    • There are lifts available to reach the Theatre. Please let us know if you have any accessibility needs, and we will do our best to accommodate them.
    • Please do not bring food or drinks (apart from water) into the theatre.

This film screening is being put on in collaboration with Justice for Palestine and Anemoia Projects.
