Managing Rotable Spares
Rotables are Spare Parts or whole pieces of equipment that can repeatedly and economically be refurbished to a serviceable condition over a period approximating the life of the equipment to which they are related. Managing this process is one of the most complicated processes in Maintenance & is often not done well. This is the story of the Opal journey.
Topics to be covered will include:
• Funding & Valuation – Initial Purchase, Valuation of USABLE & DAMAGED Stock
• Storage – How the materials are stored & maintained
• Refurbishment life cycle – From issuing the Materials to retrieving from area to sending for overhaul
• Tracking of repairs – Using SAP Notifications, Purchase Orders, & Internal Orders to track repairs (no spreadsheets)
• Internal & External Repairs – How Internal & External Repairs are managed
• Specifications & Quality – QI on Safety Valves & other materials, QM Module in SAP
• How it works in SAP

The presentation will be led by Lindsay Cameron - Manager : Engineering Services at Opal Australian Paper, Maryvale Mill in the Latrobe Valley (Regional Victoria).
Lindsay has over 30 years industry experience in Management, Planning, Projects, Maintenance, Logistics, & Technology support.  His current role involves managing the Engineering Store, Engineering Workshop, Business Analytics, Continuous Improvement, and the SAP ERP system at the Maryvale Mill, with a team of over 30 people.
This presentation will be a group presentation by Lindsay & members of his team.
