PANEL DISCUSSION MODERATED BY STUART BELSHAM (PRS FOR MUSIC)

Overview: Now more than ever before, musicians and artists are taking a DIY approach to creating, releasing and monetising their music. Some are self-releasing now with hopes of securing a future record deal, while others see it as a long-term strategy for their careers. Either way, if you are planning to release your songs, it’s vital you understand some fundamentals about the way the music industry works and how your music can generate revenue.

Join PRS for Music and a panel of industry experts as they explore copyright, the difference between Publishing Rights and Master Rights, the role of PRS, MCPS and PPL and how songwriters, composers, producers and artists earn money from different revenue streams.

Moderator: Stuart Belsham is a Writer Relationship Manager at PRS for Music, supporting and promoting PRS’ high earning songwriter members and emerging talent. With over 30 years of experience in the industry, Stuart is a key point of contact for songwriters, composers and their representatives. Through his attendance at numerous music events, he is responsible for raising a better awareness and understanding around PRS and MCPS, at the same time highlighting some of the ways in which music creators can generate an income whilst developing their career.
