    History:
Founded in 2014, Lakeshore Rush is a Chicago-based chamber music ensemble. A flexible ensemble, Lakeshore Rush consists of flute, clarinet, saxophone, violin, cello, and piano. We frequently perform together as a sextet, but also provide timbre and style variation with smaller groups gleaned from our instrumentation.

Lakeshore Rush maintains a strong presence within its home city of Chicago and abroad, performing at high-profile and smaller venues equally, including the Chicago Symphony Center, Chicago Cultural Center, the PianoForte Studios, Fulton Street Collective, and the Thirsty Ears Festival. They have commissioned and premiered many works by up-and-coming and established American composers, including works by Grace Baugher, Seth Boustead, Beth Bradfish, Griffin Candey, Amos Gillespie, Jonathan Hannau, Joshua Hintze, Pierre Jalbert, Kyong Mee Choi, Marc Mellits, Logan Rutledge, Laura Schwendinger, and Roger Zare. In 2020, the ensemble premiered its first feature-length film score written by composer Seth Boustead, with the release of Chicago Film Project’s Dreaming Grand Avenue.

As community members, Lakeshore Rush collaborated with the Chicago Composers’ Consortium, is an active member of New Music Chicago, and maintains an ongoing relationship with the Merit School of Music. The ensemble has presented workshops, masterclasses, and residencies at Lawrence University in Wisconsin, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and the Avaloch Farm Music Institute. Live recordings of the ensemble’s performances have been heard on WFMT and Blue Lake Radio.
