Event description

IN CONVERSATION WITH THE MAYOR CR MELINA SEHR JP

Women for Election is committed to sharing the stories of women who lead with purpose, experience, and deep community connection — and Mayor Melina Sehr’s journey is a remarkable example of long-standing public service and civic leadership.

Cr Melina Sehr is the Mayor of the City of Stonnington for the 2024–25 Council year, marking her fifth term in the role, having previously served as Mayor in 2003, 2004, 2010 and 2014. A lifelong resident of Prahran, Cr Sehr was first elected to Council in 2002 and brings over two decades of local government experience to the position. She also served as Deputy Mayor across three consecutive years from 2020 to 2022.

Deeply committed to her community and respected by her peers, Cr Sehr was unanimously elected Mayor in November 2024 and continues to champion strong local leadership grounded in connection, history, and service.

Join Licia Heath, CEO of Women for Election, as she speaks with Melina about her enduring career in local government, what it takes to lead with vision over time, and how community, mentorship, and legacy shape her work as a five-time Mayor.
