IN CONVERSATION: Rachel North
Event description
Rachel North will speak with Dr Alexandra Lawson about her practice and how she approaches the materiality of her work to embed landscape and memory.
Working primarily with textiles and ceramics, Rachel North delves into representations of landscapes, exploring the imprints left by human activity and the connections we form with natural spaces. North has exhibited in group and solo shows in Townsville, Brisbane, and Ipswich. She is currently completing her Bachelor of Visual Art (Studio Practice, at the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ).
Dr Alexandra Lawson is based in Toowoomba, Queensland, where she completed her PhD at UniSQ in visual art in 2015. As a lecturer at UniSQ, Lawson has watched North’s practice develop. She brings this affinity with Rachel's work to the discussion, as well as her experience as an artist, writer, curator, and art dealer.
