Women for Election is committed to sharing the powerful and inspiring stories of women shaping Australian politics – and Selena Uibo’s journey is a testament to courage, community, and principled leadership.
Selena Uibo is the Leader of the Opposition in the Northern Territory and the first Aboriginal woman to lead a major political party in Australia. A proud Nunggubuyu and Wanindilyakwa woman, Selena has represented the seat of Arnhem in the NT Legislative Assembly since 2016. Before entering politics, she was an award-winning educator and passionate advocate for youth, community empowerment, and First Nations justice.
Join Licia Heath, CEO of Women for Election, as she speaks with Selena about her path from the classroom to Cabinet, the responsibilities of leadership, and what it means to break new ground in public life while staying deeply connected to culture, values, and community.
