IN CONVERSATION: SUSIE ALTHORP + CATHERINE TRUMAN
Enjoy an afternoon with exhibition artist Susie Althorp, in conversation with mentor Catherine Truman.
Guest speaker: Susie Althorp, exhibition artist
Based in Wallaroo Mines on the Yorke Peninsula, Narungga Country, Susie draws on her close proximity to the coastline to explore and collect a wide range of seaweed specimens. Her practice is further enriched by her volunteer work at the South Australian State Herbarium, deepening her engagement with ecological knowledge and its representation.
Susie's exhibition, skopos, is the culmination of her 12-month journey as the recipient of Country Arts SA’s prestigious Breaking Ground visual arts professional development award.
Guest speaker: Catherine Truman, artist and mentor
As a renowned Adelaide-based artist, Catherine has a cross-disciplinary practice that bridges both art and science. Catherine mentored Susie during the creation of her exhibition, skopos, and Susie acknowledges Catherine in the accompanying skopos booklet "for her wonderful knowledge, insights and help extending my practice in new directions".
Susie Althorp: skopos has been commissioned by Country Arts SA through the 2025 Breaking Ground Award, presented in partnership with SALA Festival and Praxis Artspace
