Event description

Thinking about postgraduate study and wondering where it could take you?

Join us for the next Master Your Career event, where we spotlight inspiring UTS alumni from Education and Communications, who have taken bold steps to reshape their futures through postgraduate study.

Meet our speakers:

Kim Maksimovic (graduate of Master of Education, UTS) is a Director of Futures and Partnerships at Pymble Ladies’ College.

Kim is a visionary education leader and is passionate about unlocking bold futures for students by building global education strategies, driving equity in career pathways, and championing student wellbeing.

At Pymble, Kim is on the strategic leadership term for the College’s Wise Phone initiative - a pioneering wellbeing program designed to help students grow socio-emotional skills and build a healthy relationship with technology through age-appropriate digital milestones.

She has established transformative, work-integrated partnerships with Optus, Multiplex, Arup, Stephen Edwards Constructions, Women in Aviation, the Australian Defence Force, and the Australian Space Agency—each offering students authentic, curriculum-connected opportunities to engage with the world of work and become changemakers in underrepresented fields.

Her expertise spans strategic education planning, organisational change, and systems-level collaboration. She is committed to connecting education with the real world to prepare students for success in study, work, and life, shaping a generation of confident, curious, and future-ready graduates who will lead with purpose.

Paris Fittler (graduate of Master of Strategic Communication, UTS) is a Digital Communicator.

Starting out as a registered nurse in the chaotic and busy St Vincent’s Emergency Department, Paris now works as a Digital Communications Officer, university tutor and is an all-round comms nerd. So… how does that work? According to her, it’s all about backing yourself, thinking outside the box, and maybe doing a few online personality quizzes.

Paris holds a Bachelor of Nursing (Advanced Studies) from the University of Sydney and a Master of Strategic Communication from UTS. Going back to uni didn’t just add a new qualification to her CV - it shifted how she thought about her career. It gave her the chance to connect with peers from all kinds of industries, explore new opportunities, and gain practical skills that she still draws on in her day-to-day work.

These days, Paris is working in her dream role advocating for better working conditions and improved pay for nurses and midwives at the NSW Nurses and Midwives’ Association, and teaches the next generation of comms professionals at UTS. Her career journey is a reminder that taking a leap into something new can open unexpected doors and that the skills you’ve already built, even in a completely different field, can still be your biggest asset.
