Billy has recently released his book ‘A True Heart: The Fights of My Life’, offering an intimate portrayal of his extraordinary journey.
During the event, Billy will touch on his compelling story, providing a unique opportunity to delve into what experiences shaped him into a symbol of triumph against all odds. From holding prestigious boxing titles to his courageous battle against stomach cancer, attendees will learn the essence of overcoming challenges with unwavering determination.
About Billy
Billy Dib is an Australian professional boxer who held the IBF featherweight title from 2011 to 2013, and the IBO super-featherweight title in 2008 with a total of 48 wins from 56 bouts.
In October 2022, Billy was diagnosed with stomach cancer while he was at the height of his sports career. Today, he stands triumphant, in remission, and embodies the spirit of an individual who has faced life’s toughest challenges head-on.
Billy is the son of migrants who left Lebanon to build a better future for their family in Australia, his story is one of triumph over adversity to become a sports champion, a role model for a community, and a symbol of migrant success.
Billy took up boxing at the age of 12 to overcome his asthmatic condition and as a way to defend himself against bullying at school. After turning pro in 2004, Dib won his next 12 fights and trained with the legendary Mike Tyson in the US, where he won his first world title in 2008.
