Join Eltham Bookshop at this special event with nature writer Harry Saddler, where he talks with Yarra Riverkeeper Charlotte Sterrett about his new book 'A Clear Flowing Yarra'.

About the book: They say you can't step in the same river twice, and it's true that the Yarra, Birrarung has been hugely changed - but this book is a glorious and timely reminder that things can also be changed for the better. Nature writer Harry Saddler hops, skips and jumps his way along, beside, on and even in the Yarra River from source to mouth, reveling in its hidden beauty, getting close to platypuses, kingfishers, Krefft's gliders and the occasional seal, and meeting many of the swimmers, bushwalkers, ecologists and traditional owners who are quietly and tenaciously restoring the river, patch by patch. Optimistic, inspiring and heartfelt, A Clear Flowing Yarra is a passionate love letter to the river that shapes Melbourne, and an evocative vision of what it is now and what it can be.

This event is part of the inaugural Birrarung Riverfest, a month-long community celebration of our beautiful and resilient river starting on World Rivers' Day. Together with more than a dozen organisations, the festival provides an opportunity to connect to each other and the river's life force and reimagine the river's future. Engage your 'head, heart and hands' and be inspired to advocate for and care for your Birrarung River and all her critters!

There are 20 events to plan your Birrarung adventure, from art exhibitions, storytelling, river clean-ups, and camping, to cultural walks, platypus monitoring, pollution patrols, and even a book launch. To find out more: https://yarrariver.org.au/rive...

This event and the festival take place on the unceded land and waters of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nation. Festival organisers (the Yarra Riverkeeper Association and all partners) pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge their care of Country since time began.

This event is supported by Eltham Bookshop and Edendale Community Farm.
