In conversation with Jelena Dokic

Join Jelena Dokic in conversation with Janice Simpson at the Maryborough Tennis Centre. You will be greeted with a welcome drink and a fabulous discussion followed by afternoon tea and a chance to buy Jelena's book and have her sign it.

Jelena played tennis on the circuit rising to Number 4 in the world. Who could forget her breathtaking match in round 1 at Wimbledon in 1999 when, aged 16, she played and beat the then World No 1 Martina Hingis with a scoreline of 6-2, 6-0.

Her promising career was interrupted by her father and coach, Damir, who abused her verbally and physically on and off the court in ways her fans did not understand at the time. Jelena writes about this time in her life in her memoir Unbreakable (pub. 2018).

Jelena is now a world-class tennis commentator highly respected in her field. She is loved by the television audience who appreciate her informative comments based on deep knowledge and experience.

She has written a further memoir, Fearless (pub. 2023), about how she went to rock bottom and climbed back up to be the successful and strong woman she is today.
