In Conversation with Palestine: Dania Hawari
Event description
In Conversation with Palestine: Dania Hawari
Sunday August 10. 4:00pm – 6:00pm
Unassigned Gallery, Brunswick
Join us for a powerful conversation with Dania S. Hawari—a Palestinian woman, refugee, feminist, and legal advocate—speaking with the Made in Palestine team in real-time from the West Bank.
Together, we’ll explore the Occupation’s violations against women under international humanitarian law, with a focus on the experiences of Palestinian women in Israeli prisons. Dania will speak to the systemic violence faced by women and girls living under occupation, and share reflections from her legal and advocacy work on the ground.
This is not a one-way broadcast—it is a direct conversation, held across continents, between advocates committed to justice, care, and solidarity.
About Dania Hawari
Dania is currently completing her Master’s in International Law and Diplomacy at the Arab American University (AAUP) in Ramallah. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Human Rights and International Law from Al Quds University “Bard College” in Abu Dis, East Jerusalem, where her senior project focused on the social phenomenon of “honour crimes” in Palestine and the role of NGOs in protecting women. Since 2022, she has worked in the field of local and international advocacy specifically in documentation of femicide and IHL violation against Palestinian women.
Fundraising
All proceeds from this event will be directly donated to Made in Palestine's current humanitarian project 'Crisis Aid for a Gazan Family'. Crisis Aid for a Gazan Family is a targeted, rights-based humanitarian project supporting a displaced family in Gaza. With three young babies in their care and access to essentials severely restricted due to Israel’s ongoing illegal blockade, the family is facing daily risks to their health, safety, and dignity.
Made in Palestine is committed to providing $8,000 AUD of aid over six months, ensuring the family can meet their most urgent needs.
