In the lead-up to NAIDOC Week 2026 (theme: 50 Years of Deadly), Her Place Women's Museum Australia presents a special in-conversation evening with two leading historians.
Together, Professor Julie Andrews OAM and Professor Clare Wright OAM will discuss their major new books, histories written from deep research and on relationships of trust with the communities and families at the centre of their books.

A Yorta Yorta, Wiradjuri and Wurundjeri Woiwurrung woman — will discuss her new book Where's All the Community? Aboriginal Melbourne Revisited, a vivid portrait of Aboriginal Melbourne from 1835 to today, drawn from her own family's story, community interviews and her research in anthropology.
Professor Clare Wright OAM
Will discuss Näku Dhäruk: The Bark Petitions, the story of how the Yolngu people of Yirrkala used bark petitions to change the course of Australian democracy - a tale of land, law, and the long fight to be heard.
