A special event for South Australian writers, directors and producers working in scripted.

Join SAFC CEO Kate Croser and ABC’s new Head of Scripted Rachel Okine for an insightful discussion about ABC’s commissioning needs and opportunities for South Australian key creatives.

Rachel joined the ABC last month from Stan, where she was the Senior Commissioning Editor overseeing a slate of scripted drama and comedy, feature films and feature documentaries.

In the newly-created role of ABC Head of Scripted, Rachel now oversees the biggest scripted slate in Australia, encompassing all ABC drama and comedy.

Designed especially for South Australian writers, directors and producers working in scripted, this special event is a great opportunity to meet Rachel and learn more about what the ABC is looking to commission and how to pitch new ideas.

TIME: 5.00pm for 5.15pm start. In Conversation and Q&A followed by light refreshments and networking.

ABOUT RACHEL OKINE

After starting her career in acquisitions at FilmFour, Rachel Okine was the first employee of Hopscotch, later becoming the Acquisitions Executive for eOne ANZ and Head of Development for Hopscotch Features.

Rachel moved back to Europe in 2015 to become Paris-based VP of International Production and Acquisitions for Studiocanal and was subsequently appointed VP of International Acquisitions for STX. Returning to Australia in 2020, Rachel was appointed Managing Director of Academy Award-nominated production company Aquarius Films to strategically lead its film and TV operations.

Rachel joined Stan in 2021 as Senior Commissioning Editor, overseeing a slate of scripted drama and comedy, feature films and feature documentaries. In July 2023 she was announced as the ABC’s new Head of Scripted, a role she commenced on 4 September, 2023.
