Event description

Two women. Two stories. One shared mission — changing how we see sport.

Join Ann Odong and Jo Stephan for an inspiring conversation about storytelling, resilience, and what it means to carve your path behind the lens. From capturing the world’s biggest tournaments to rebuilding a career after injury, Ann and Jo have lived the highs, lows, and everything in between.

This isn’t just a talk — it’s an honest look at what it takes to turn passion into purpose. Expect insights on breaking into sports photography, navigating identity, and building community through creativity.

🎟️ Seats are limited. Reserve your spot early — this is a rare chance to hear from two of Australia’s leading voices in sports media and photography.

About our hosts:

Ann Odong is one of the most respected voices in Australian sport. As the former Media Manager for the Matildas, she helped transform the team into a global brand and cultural movement. A journalist, storyteller, and advocate, Ann has spent more than two decades championing women’s sport — shaping how it’s seen, covered, and celebrated. Her work has inspired countless women to step behind the lens, lead in media, and tell stories that matter.

Joanne Stephan is an award-winning filmmaker, photographer and licensed drone operator based in Sydney. A former elite athlete turned creative, her passion for sport and storytelling has taken her from skateparks to mountain trails — capturing motion, energy, and emotion one frame at a time. Recently named the 2025 Sony Alpha Awards Portrait Category Winner, Joanne’s work celebrates strength, creativity, and confidence both in front of and behind the lens. Through her workshops, she’s on a mission to help more women step into action photography and discover the thrill of capturing life in motion.
