WHAT THE COURSE COVERS

Standard Mental Health First Aid (SMHFA) course teaches people 18 years and over how to offer initial support to adults who are developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem or in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis is resolved.

Mental health problems covered:

- Depression 

- Anxiety problems 

- Psychosis 

- Substance use problems

Mental health crisis covered include:

- Suicidal thoughts and behaviours

- Non-suicidal Self-Injury 

- Panic attacks

- Traumatic events

- Severe psychotic states

- Severe effects from alcohol or other drug use

- Aggressive behaviours

You will learn how and where to get help when a person is developing a mental illness, what help research has shown to be effective and how to provide first aid in crisis situations.

This course will enable you to:

  • INTERVENE EARLY
  • PROVIDE SKILLS
  • RESPOND IN A CRISIS
  • REDUCE STIGMA

Complete a self-paced online assessment in order to become accredited

Refund policy

Partial refunds are available up to 7 days before an event. If a participant rebooks into another event run by host prior to 7 days, then all monies with be transferred. If a workshop is cancelled by the host, rules will apply as above. If minimum numbers of 12 attendees are not reached by Monday 20/3/23 at 5pm, the trainers reserve the right to cancel the event and refund full monies.
