Event description

Communities at Work's Galilee School invites you to attend our upcoming In The Know session on managing anxiety in our young people. In the Know is an information series for parents and guardians to address and promote positive messages in the community, focused on young people's mental and social wellbeing.

This information session will focus on understanding and supporting our young people as they navigate through anxiety and worry. Come along and learn more about anxiety and what we can do to support our young people to improve their engagement in the things that matter.

Galilee School's Head of Student Support Kylie Whitten will be presenting the session and providing education, insight and strategies based on her many years of experience working as a mental health professional.

About Anxiety

Everyone experiences anxiety sometimes as a normal part of life. Sometimes it can become overwhelming and significantly impact everyday life. About 1 in 4 young people will experience worries and anxiety that prevent them from doing what they should or would like to do.  This often impacts school attendance, engagement and socialising with peers. With support from family, friends and professionals, anxiety can be improved and managed.

About In The Know Information Series

Communities at Work's Galilee School 'In The Know' is an information series for parents and guardians. It is aimed at addressing and promoting positive messages in the community, focused around the mental and social wellbeing of young people.

The initiative is an attempt by our school to exercise greater positive influence in the lives of young people over what affects them outside the school environment. The information series hopes to provide support to parents and guardians to better understand and tackle contemporary challenges affecting the young people in their care.

It demonstrates our commitment to helping young people from the school gain an understanding of society, access positive role models, and form positive relationships outside the school setting.

While ticketing priority will be given to Galilee School's parents and guardians, if we have enough places remaining, spots may be opened to other Communities at Work's families and the broader community.
