Event description

Communities@Work's Galilee School will be hosting a ThinkUKnow presentation on 16 June 2021, as part of our "In The Know: Information Series" and all parents, carers and teachers are encouraged to attend.

ThinkUKnow Australia is an evidence-based education program delivered nationally to prevent online child sexual exploitation.

The presentation will be delivered by a local law enforcement member and an industry volunteer. The presentation is pro-technology and addresses topics including self-generated online child sexual exploitation material, online grooming, image-based abuse, sexual extortion, and importantly encourages help-seeking behaviour.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to learn more about young people and the online environment, and how you can help them to be safe and responsible users of technology.

For more information, you can visit www.thinkuknow.org.au or contact Heidii Burgess (Galilee School Chaplain) on 02 6293 6314.

ThinkUKnow Australia is a partnership between the Australian Federal Police, Microsoft Australia, Datacom and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. The program is delivered in collaboration with policing partners New South Wales Police Force, Northern Territory Police, Queensland Police, South Australia Police, Tasmania Police, Western Australia Police, as well as Neighbourhood Watch Australasia.

About In The Know Information Series

Communities@Work's Galilee School is pleased to launch 'In The Know', an information series for parents and guardians, aimed at addressing and promoting positive messages in the community, focused around the mental and social wellbeing of young people.

The initiative is an attempt by our school to exercise greater positive influence in the lives of young people over what affects them outside the school environment. The information series hopes to provide support to parents and guardians to better understand and tackle contemporary challenges affecting the young people in their care.

It demonstrates our commitment to helping young people from the school gain an understanding of society, accesses positive role models, and form positive relationships outside the school setting.

The ThinkUKnow Online Safety session is the first in Galilee School's "In The Know" information series for Parents and Guardians of the school.

While ticketing priority will be given to Galilee School's parents and guardians, if we have enough places remaining, limited spots may be opened to other Communities@Work's families including our Out of School Hours Care services.
