In the Mix: Beginner DJ Workshop with Ayebatonye
Event description
We are thrilled to announce In the Mix's latest 'one-off' Beginner DJ workshop + Q&A with the legendary Ayebatonye.
Ayebatonye is an Australia based DJ & Producer of Nigerian heritage. Known worldwide for her groove centred cross-genre sets, she’s become a mainstay in the Australian music scene. Blending house, afro rhythms, deep percussive drum beats and sounds that sit within the realm of global club music her signature style and refreshing take on her craft is not easily defined by genre.
Ayebatonye revels in the intimate setting of a smaller scale club, and cherishes the symbiotic relationship between dancers and dj, however she’s comfortable in any setting. Locally and internationally Ayebatonye has played major festivals and worked with respected cultural institutions including Pitch Music and Arts Festival, Dark Mofo, Strawberry Fields, Boiler Room, Tresor, Potato Head Bali, Sydney Opera House and Resident Advisor. She’s supported electronic music prodigies including Underground Resistance, Honey Dijon, DJ Bone, Soichi Terada and Miss Kittin.
Ayebatonye embodies a deeply authentic musical voice. She prioritises the art of mixing within her practice, evident to anyone who has experienced her sets. Her skilful blends, experimentation and smooth transitions between genres fosters an inviting, seductive and energetic atmosphere showcasing her adeptness behind the decks.
