In the Round KC is a simple concept at face value: a small group of local singer-songwriters performing original tunes in a listener-friendly room.

We all know that Kansas City is not at a loss for live music played by world-class talent on a nightly basis. So then, what’s the big deal?

In the Round KC is all about cultivating a community of collaboration. We will draw seasoned, professional singer-songwriters in our area from multiple genres and give them a platform to both share their unique gifts and make new friends, both music fans and other songwriters alike. We want to provide a space where their talents are valued and appreciated by neighbors in the community.

At each of the shows, songwriters will be seated in the round (hence the name) facing one another, as if sitting around a table. This invites collaboration and intimacy, two key ingredients in a successful writer’s round. In the Round KC events are always listener centric, in both support and atmosphere, attempting to cultivate the ideal environment for the vulnerability that comes with storytelling through song.

If you’re on the hunt for another loud bar or club gig, this isn’t it. If you’re looking to have groovy jazz standards as the soundtrack for your steak, you’re in the wrong place.

Launched in April 2024, In the Round KC will be back with lots of showcases in 2025. Be on the lookout for lineups, dates & location!
