Description

Join us at PACT for our fourth and final In The Works showcase for 2026!

In The Works: Process, Play Experiment is an opportunity for our six PACT Lab: PPE 2026 artists to share their works in development after their intensive two-week residency.

Audiences are invited to join the artists for a post-show Q&A.

-

Taking place over two weeks from 8-20 November, PPE is a unique opportunity for artists in the first 10 years of their careers to spend two weeks developing their practice and creating new work in a collaborative environment. As well as residency space and support from PACT, the lab will include masterclasses with members of PACT's Associate Artists and guests, and will conclude with a public "In the Works" showcase.

Nasim Patel

Nasim is an artist examining how technology mediates culture in the Anthropocene through choreography, digital work, and writing. He has created work for the Sydney Opera House, the University of Melbourne, and Performance Space. In 2024, Nasim participated in the Taiwan and Australia Choreography and Technology Exchange Program, organised between Critical Path and the Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab. The collaboration between Taiwanese and Australian artists led to the creation of ‘BODY-DATA-LOOP’ in Taiwan, and ‘I remember what the machine remembers what I remember’, which premiered in Liveworks festival 2025. Nasim recently completed an Honours thesis which examined racialised repressions in early colonial Australia. This year, Nasim premiered ‘Tell Distance’—a full-length choreographic work based on his Honours research—at TheLab@UNSW as part of Sydney Fringe, and released 'Echoes from my Time Loop', a sci-fi concept rap EP written by an alternate-universe version of himself trapped in a time loop.

Xin Hui Ong

Xin Hui Ong is a Boorloo/Perth-based dance artist, choreographer and emerging performance-maker working across contemporary movement, text, character and visual composition. Her practice investigates the body as a site where social roles, desire, memory and expectation are rehearsed, resisted and remade. Through improvisation, task-based scores and choreographic structures, Xin creates performances that sit between abstraction and intimacy, inviting audiences to consider how they look, interpret and project meaning onto others.

Her recent work, Pro Forma Persona, explored the tension between public identity and the repressed self through movement, image and shifting performer relationships. Xin has undertaken creative development through independent practice and workshops with artists including Raghav Handa and Johannes Wieland. At PACT’s PPE Lab, she will develop Clandestine, a dance-theatre work exploring private ritual, spectatorship and the uneasy space between witnessing and voyeurism.

Lulu finds a catharsis in sharing their personal anecdotes and stories to build connections within niche and underrepresented communities. Lulu is excited by Eora exiting out of traditional art practices and moving into a new renaissance of experimentation.
