Description

In the Works provides a vital platform for artists to share ideas, test forms, and connect with audiences through a series of short works nights. In 2026, PACT will present three editions of In the Works across February, April and June, each curated by members of PACT’s Associate Artists team. This program exists in direct response to the ongoing lack of opportunities for emerging artists to develop and present new work.

Curated by Martin del Amo and Jazz Money, In the Works: Storyworlds kicks off the series, bringing together a diverse group of artists working at the intersection of movement, language and image. Richly evocative storytelling unfolds through bodies, voices and gestures, with new works by Vishnu Arunasalam, Fei Gao, Nasim Patel and Anne-Marie Te Whiu.

ACCESSIBILITY

PACT is an accessible venue, with level access throughout the public areas of the building and non-gendered, ambulant and wheelchair-accessible toilets. There is accessible (non-dedicated) street parking on Railway Parade. The nearest accessible train stations are Erskineville (5 minutes) and Newtown (15 minutes).

Lineup

Anne-Marie Te Whiu (Te Rarawa)

Anne-Marie Te Whiu (Te Rarawa) is a Sydney-based Australian-born Māori poet, editor, cultural producer and weaver. Her practice focuses on the transformative potentiality of artistic collaboration towards Land Back and the amplification of First Nations and POC writers and artists. Ani’s writing has been published widely across Australia and Aotearoa in anthologies, journals, magazines and exhibitions. Mettle is Ani’s debut poetry collection, published by University of Queensland Press.
Fei Gao

Fei Gao is an artist and producer based on unceded Dharug land. Their practice draws on symbolic elements to shape personas and narratives, moving from fixed identities toward approaches grounded in sensory exploration and movement. Inspired by games, lores, and collective imaginings, Fei’s work reflects on tenderness, transformation, and the shifting dynamics of connection between people and communities. Their interests currently include psychology, migration stories, and community arts and cultural development.
Nasim Patel

Nasim Patel is an artist drawn to embodiment as a common denominator of human experience, exploring how choreography can relate disparate ideas and stories. His work has been presented by the Sydney Opera House, the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA), and the University of Melbourne. Nasim’s current research investigates digital mediations of identity, colonial perceptions of desert spaces, and the particular experience of the early migrant Cameleers in Australia.
Vishnu Arunasalam

Vishnu Arunasalam is a Sri Lankan (Eelam)-born, Australian-raised art-maker living and working on Dharug country. Blending the classical dance form of Bharatanatyam with contemporary dance practice, his work explores South Asian diaspora identity within the Australian cultural landscape. In 2024, he presented his first solo work MUGAVARI (Tamil: ‘Identity’), as part of DirtyFeet’s Out of Studio program. Vishnu collaborated with Dance Makers Collective on their 2025 Sydney Festival production, All In.
