In Fashion: Conscious Consumerism with Fibre Economy
Event description
Clothing is worn by everyone, every day. So we all have the power to make a positive impact with the choices we make around our clothing.
In Fashion: Conscious Consumerism is a fun, interactive workshop focused on teaching you how to become a more conscious consumer when it comes to fashion and your wardrobe.
Shannon and Molly from Fibre Economy will give you the rundown on the textile waste crisis and teach you ways of reducing your wardrobe footprint.
We’ll be covering:
● Ecological impact of clothing
● Understanding fibres & fabrics
● Waste colonialism
● Caring for your clothes
● Shopping sustainably
● Donation etiquette
You’ll also receive a guide featuring actionable steps you can take at home to put what you learn at the workshop into action!
In the spirit of building our connection to clothing, we ask that you either bring or wear an item of clothing that has a story behind it or is special to you! Everyone will have the opportunity to share their story during the workshop.
Circular Styling is a collaborative project between the Town of East Fremantle, the City of Fremantle, and the City of Melville to help people reduce the impact of textile waste. The project involves a series of clothing swaps with a sustainable stylist, and workshops to upskill and educate participants.
