Indian Cooking Class
Description
Sydney's most-loved Indian cooking class — 500+ five-star reviews
Indian cooking has a reputation for being complicated — endless spices, fiddly steps, recipes you'll forget the moment you leave. Bhavna Kalra Shivalkar has spent over a decade proving otherwise, and thousands of Sydneysiders have walked out of her kitchen wondering why they ever bothered with takeaway.
This is a four-hour, fully hands-on class — not a demo. You'll cook side-by-side with Bhavna, picking up the techniques, stories, and cultural context behind each dish, all rooted in her own upbringing in Mumbai. She's conducts Sydney's much-loved Little India food tours in Harris Park, so this is genuine insight into Indian food, not a watered-down version made for outsiders.
You'll cook a six-to-seven course home-style feast, drawn from dishes like:
Protein – Kadhai Chicken or Pepper Chicken
Protein – Pindi Chole (chickpea curry) or Rajma (kidney beans)
Lentils – Methi Dal or Dal Fry
Rice – Lemon & Peanut Fried Rice or Corn Pulao
Protein – Mushroom Korma or Egg Korma
Bread – Mangalore Buns (deep-fried banana bread) or Potato & Cheese Parathas
Raita – Beetroot or Carrot Raita
This isn't restaurant food dressed up for a Western palate — it's the kind of meal Indian families cook on a regular weeknight. Hearty, nourishing & budget friendly.
