Indian Mirror Work: Embroidery for Beginners with Manjari

What’s it all about?
Learn the basics of Mirror (Sheesha) work embroidery from the Kutch region of India. Traditionally mirror work was used to ward off evil spirits and bad luck away from homes and the wearer! This embroidery is fun, playful and bright!
In this class we will learn various stitches and techniques on cotton fabrics. You will create a sample that can be framed, used as a patch or can become part of a bigger project.
All materials will be provided.
Basic sewing experience can be helpful but not necessary as the stitches are simple and easy to follow.

Sewing your own piece of Sheesha mirror work!

Who will be teaching?
Manjari (she/her) is a trained Fashion Designer with vast experience in Indian textiles and embroideries. After working in the Fashion industry for over a decade, she has been running her own handmade children's clothing label, Bubble For Poppet, for the past eight years.
