Event description

A warm invitation to celebrate Indigenous research achievements at UTS.

Join us to launch a suite of Indigenous resources that will inform future work in the area, spark conversations and showcase best practice outcomes. The launch will feature publications resourced and produced by the Indigenous Research Committee (IRC) with support from Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research and published with the expert guidance of UTS Library. Publications include the Indigenous ethics publication, a major multi-year publication design project and the Indigenous led research paper project led by Distinguished Professor Larissa Behrendt. This lunchtime event will also showcase some of UTS’s best practice outcomes and partnerships with Indigenous communities and organisations.

This event is a collaboration between the Office of Pro-Vice Chancellor Indigenous Leadership and Engagement, Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research, and the Faculty of Law.

Diagram designed by Sancia Ridgway. This diagram shows woven baskets and vessels of knowledge. The paper pays homage to the ways that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have passes on knowledge through story telling and craft for tens and thousands of years. Weaving is often practiced in groups and creates community. Waving circles are a place for collective knowledge to be shared from ancestors, to elders and then to young people.
