With Desert-Rain Magpie

Desert-Rain Magpie is a Noongar woman from South-West Western Australia currently living and raising a family on Kombumerri Country in the Gold Coast. She is a First Nations Artist practicing in textiles and visual arts with a passion for working with parents and children to strengthen cultural identity. As parents it is important for us to learn, share and grow, we do this by sharing stories and showcasing our history, arts and cultural activities.

Desert-Rain has completed a Bachelor of Indigenous Studies majoring in Trauma & Healing, is a Cultural Arts Facilitator and is qualified in Dreamtime Healing using Holographic Kinetics. She uses these underlying skills to create a safe space that is culturally appropriate for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous participants so we can walk on this land together as friends and equals, and you too can share our pride in the oldest continuous culture in the world.

"In the spirit of reconciliation Pacific Arts & Cultural Heritage Inc acknowledges and pays respect to the past, present and future Traditional Custodians and Elders of this nation and the continuation of cultural, spiritual and educational practices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.”

This reconciliation initiative is proudly supported by the Department of Seniors, Disability Services and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships through the Celebrating Reconciliation Small Grants Program.

NOTE: This is a COVID SAFE EVENT. People must not attend this event if they have COVID-19 symptoms.
