Induction Cooking & Info Night with Olotl
Event description
Bookings essential.
Celebrate the vibrant flavours and sustainability traditions of Mexico in this delicious, all-electric evening at the Inner West Sustainability Hub.
In celebration of food, culture, and sustainable cooking, this workshop will be led by two Mexican-born food enthusiasts whose family roots are steeped in artisanal food making. Drawing on their passion for traditional cuisine, they’ll demonstrate how to prepare authentic Mexican dishes using fresh, locally-grown ingredients — all cooked on our in-house and portable induction stoves.
Learn how to make:
Esquites – a beloved Mexican street food featuring golden corn kernels
Tostadas de Tinga – demonstrated live during the session
Agua de Jamaica – a refreshing hibiscus iced tea
Plus, enjoy a small sweet treat to finish
You’ll also hear about the cultural and environmental significance of corn, including the ancient process of nixtamalisation, and how thoughtful cooking can help reduce waste and support local produce.
All while discovering the benefits of switching from gas to electric and induction stoves – a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable way to cook.
