Understanding the challenges, experiences and mental health needs of LGBTQIA+ communities today.

What does seeking mental health support look like for LGBTQIA+ people today? What challenges are shaping the queer experience, and how can we create more inclusive, affirming and effective approaches to mental health care?

Join us at the Victorian Pride Centre for the second session of Industry Insights, a series bringing together professionals, community leaders and organisations to explore important issues, share experiences and build meaningful connections.

The Modern Queer Experience in Therapy will bring together a panel of professionals to explore the evolving mental health landscape for LGBTQIA+ communities and the challenges that are bringing queer clients to therapy.

Through an open and thought-provoking conversation, our panellists will explore:

Mental health in LGBTQIA+ communities: Understanding the current challenges, emerging trends and evolving support needs.
Queerness and neurodivergence: Exploring the intersection of LGBTQIA+ identities and neurodivergence, and the importance of inclusive, affirming care.
Loneliness and social connection: Examining the growing experience of isolation and the role of community, belonging and meaningful relationships.
Navigating today's political and social climate: Understanding how increasing hostility, discrimination and uncertainty can affect mental health and wellbeing.
Supporting queer clients: Sharing different therapeutic approaches, lived experiences and strategies for providing culturally responsive and affirming support.

This conversation will offer valuable perspectives on the realities facing LGBTQIA+ people today, while encouraging greater understanding, collaboration and connection between mental health professionals, community organisations and the wider community.

Whether you work in mental health, community services, advocacy or simply have an interest in LGBTQIA+ wellbeing, this event is an opportunity to learn, exchange ideas and be part of an important conversation.
