Join us as the Lord Mayor outlines his vision for energising the city and making Perth a more liveable, sustainable, and prosperous place. Learn more about how the City of Perth is working with the Federal and WA governments to deliver the Perth City Deal, which aims to improve active and public transport accessibility and safety in the CBD, increasing the attractiveness and sustainability of the city for residents and visitors.

OUR SPEAKER

Basil Zempilas was elected Lord Mayor of the City of Perth in October 2020, the 18th Lord Mayor of Perth and the first following a three year period without elected leadership.

This is the Lord Mayor’s first foray into Local Government and comes after a successful and ongoing broadcasting career in television and radio and as a newspaper columnist with The West Australian.

He is currently the chair of the Council of Capital City Lord Mayors (CCCLM).  He is the Vice-President of the Royal Humane Society of Australasia.

In his role as Lord Mayor, Basil was twice asked to activate the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund, first for the Wooroloo and Hills bushfire and then for the victims of Tropical Cyclone Seroja. The two appeals raised almost $25 million.

Basil is Perth born and bred, a huge contributor to the community and fiercely proud of his Greek heritage, His family hails from the tiny island of Kastellorizo, Greece which has had official Sister City status with the City of Perth since 1984.

Refund policy

Booking requests submitted less than 48 hours before a Roads Australia event cannot be guaranteed unless you receive a confirmation from Roads Australia. Refund requests must be notified in writing email to events@roads.org.au Refunds requested more than 14 days prior to the event will receive a full refund less an admin fee (3.3% + 88c per ticket). Refunds requested less than 14 days prior to the event will receive a full refund less 25% of the booking total. Refunds requested less than 7 days prior to the event will receive a full refund less 50% of the booking total. Refunds requested less than 3 days prior to the event will not be eligible for a refund due to commitments made with the venue. However, substitute delegates are welcome.
