The WorkUP Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mentoring Program “Walking Together, Learning Together” is being delivered again in 2022.

About the Program:

The "Walking Together, Learning Together" mentoring program’s objective is to strengthen and empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander frontline workers in the Domestic Family Violence, Sexual Assault and Women's Health and Wellbeing sector.

This program is targeting those services funded by the Department of Justice and the Attorney General and are looking for participation of Mentors or Mentees to form mentoring partnerships throughout the program.

This information session is to provide an overview of the program to those eligible services interested in being part in Walking Together, Learning Together's guided conversations and workshops over a 6 to 7-month period that aims to empower, develop, support and retain.

This program, offered by WorkUP Queensland, runs off the back of its pilot program successfully rolled out during 2021. Please join us to find out more about what it's all about, and how you or your team can be part of this game-changing experience.

The session will be hosted by Eileen Heywood who is the lead consultant on the program and co-hosted by Rona Scherer from WorkUP Queensland.

Eileen Heywood

Eileen has been facilitating mentoring programs for professional associations and clients in the public, private, tertiary, and not-for-profit sectors for over 20 years. She maintains an interest in writing and presenting at conferences and in 2009, co-authored the book,“Stepping Up: Developing Leadership Practice Through Mentoring.”

Rona Scherer

Rona Scherer is a Mamu Kuku Yalanji woman from Far North Queensland, living on Gubbi Gubbi country.

Rona has been facilitating cultural conversations for over 15 years to produce connections across employment, community services and now the DFV sector. Her recent work has been all about embedding cultural safety in services and organisations at all levels. She believes that people are at the heart of change and for cultural shifts to occur for workforce, many conversations must take place.
