Event description

Join us for an Info Session with Janet Burke, experienced Counsellor from The Holding Space, as she explores the complex and often over-looked emotional impact of medical trauma for parents of children with disability.

When your child with disability requires ongoing medical care or unplanned hospital visits, the emotional toll can be significant. Janet will share her expertise on recognising and addressing the unique challenges families face throughout their healthcare journey.

This session will cover:

  • Understanding medical trauma and recognising signs of stress, anxiety, and burnout in yourself as a parent or caregiver
  • Developing practical strategies for emotional resilience during medical situations,
  • Self-care within demanding caregiving schedules
  • Building effective support networks while navigating the healthcare system to maintain your family's wellbeing.

Whether you're new to your child's diagnosis or have been managing complex medical needs for years, this session offers valuable insights to help you create space for your own emotional health while supporting your child.
