Sun, 8 Nov, 9:30am - 3pm AWST

Description

Join the International Network on Health, Hepatitis, and Substance Use (INHSU) for a free workshop focusing on the practical aspects of implementing interventions for hepatitis C virus (HCV). This workshop is taking place as a pre-conference event as part of APSAD 2026.

Hear from local and national experts on what works in real-world settings, including best practice models of care, cross-sector collaboration and strategies to reduce stigma and improve engagement and treatment outcomes.

The program is implementation science informed and will provide actionable tools to support linkage to care, and strengthen service delivery.

Why is this symposium needed?

While HCV treatment is now highly effective, challenges remain in reaching and supporting people at risk or living with HCV. This symposium focuses on strengthening and scaling HCV testing and treatment services, within the realities of different settings.

Who should attend?

Designed for anyone working with people who use drugs, this event offers practical tools, real world insights and opportunities to network. Attendees include doctors, nurses, frontline and peer workers, program managers, researchers, NSP staff, pharmacists, and policymakers from a variety of settings. Attendees do not need to be part of the APSAD Conference.

After attending this event, you will be able to:

  • Identify areas for enhancing or scaling up in your own HCV service delivery

  • Understand how a variety of interventions work

  • Analyse possible barriers to implementing interventions and how to overcome them using process mapping

  • Understand how to improve HCV care pathways and support your state’s progress toward HCV elimination

Travel support

We welcome attendees from regional and remote areas within WA. A limited number of travel scholarships are available to support travel and accommodation, please contact info@inhsu.org for more information and to apply.
