Description

Slow Down, Get Creative, Be Present

When was the last time you slowed down and wrote? When was the last time you let yourself be present and have some slow, creative moments? Curious about Chinese calligraphy?

Join us for a mindful afternoon where Chinese calligraphy meets creative play. Choose a word or phrase that speaks to you, or simply come to explore further through art-making. No perfect outcome to chase, just space to slow down, create, and be present.

No experience needed, just come as you are!

In this 3-hour workshop, you'll:

  • Learn the basics of Chinese calligraphy and brush technique

  • Choose a word or phrase that feels meaningful to you

  • Discover the tactile art of hand-torn paper, tearing textured coloured paper freehand to build a piece that complements your word or phrase

  • Create your own take-home calligraphy artwork

  • Be gently guided by Leda and Wen through a mindful, mixed-media process

  • Pause, notice, and enjoy the process

  • Connect with others if you'd like (sharing is always optional!)

What's included:

  • All calligraphy, art and craft materials

  • Guided facilitation by Wen and Leda

  • Your finished artworks to take home

  • One complimentary drink

A gentle note: this workshop draws on art therapy-informed activities for self-expression and reflection, but it isn't psychotherapy or a substitute for mental health treatment.

We'd love to have you!

Testimonials

  • Great workshop with a warm, friendly atmosphere and perfect pacing. Time flew while writing, and I didn’t want it to end. Highly recommend, and I’d love to bring friends next time!

  • My favourite part was writing the card. The workshop covered the essentials in a short time, and the instructor quickly helped me improve a brushstroke I'd been struggling with.
