Port Kembla Impressions: From Photography to Drypoint Etching
Designed for teachers, educators and art enthusiasts, this hands-on workshop explores the creative connection between photography, place, and printmaking. Participants will photograph the unique landscapes and industrial heritage of Port Kembla before transforming their images into expressive drypoint etchings. Through guided demonstrations and studio practice, participants will develop practical printmaking skills while discovering creative approaches to place-based artmaking that can inspire both personal practice and classroom learning.

- Can I claim professional learning hours?

This workshop is designed with differentiation in mind and is developed for one of the four key priority areas for teacher professional development (PD).
Students/children with disability: Implementing inclusive education and adjusting teaching practices for diverse learners.
- What materials are provided?
You will receive an artist pack including:
plastic sleeve containing pencil, sharpener, watercolour(s), sharpie, print paper, drypoint plate, ruler and paintbrush.
Access to an A3 etching press and studio environment located in Port Kembla.
- What will happen in the event of rain?
The workshop is located indoors and will run regardless of rain. You will require an umbrella to take photographs outside and remember, some images will be provided.
- How do I get there?
Red Point Arts is in ‘The Wentworth’ at 100 Wentworth St, Port Kembla.
Studios, galleries and our office are open Thursdays to Saturdays 11am to 2pm, or by appointment.
TRAIN: Port Kembla train station is 500 metres from Red Point Arts.
BUS: Premier Buses numbers 43 and 65 have regular services from the station to Red Point Arts.
CAR: There is generous free parking close by including the council carpark opposite the RSL in Allen St. Wentworth Street parking has a one hour limit.
- What happens if I can't make it?
You can refund your own ticket 2 days before the event begins.
