TWO WORKSHOPSÂ Wednesday 9th November 2022:
Illustration with Zinia King
Howdy! My name is Zinia King and I'm an illustrator living in the beautiful Adelaide Hills. I am endlessly inspired by my natural surroundings, so it is no surprise that Australian flora and fauna feature heavily in my work. My artwork is often described as 'whimsical', and people will often smile or laugh at my curious creature designs. The pen used in my drawings is spontaneous, incorporating intricate patterns that draw inspiration from nature. I adore using watercolour to colour my artworks and appreciate its free flowing nature. My work as a freelance illustrator brings me enormous amounts of joy. It is such a privilege to bring ideas to life and to inspire people through my art. Children's book illustration is my passion and I am continually seeking out projects in which I can showcase the majesty of our natural environment.
1. Illustration Workshop - Working with Watercolour & Ink 9.30-11.30am
Taking inspiration from the beautiful gardens, you will be guided by Zinia to create your own delightful nature-based artwork. Zinia will lead you though her unique pen/watercolour technique and there will be plenty of time to play in a non-judgmental setting. Suitable for complete beginners or for those who want to try a new technique, you'll be certain to come away with a smile on your face!
Nuno Felting with Helen Moon
Helen Moon is a textile artist working with silk painting, Nuno felting, and indigo and immersion dyeing. With these bespoke methods she creates clothing ranges, fabric lengths, scarves and wall art. She finds that the Adelaide Hills is an inspiring place to live and work, surrounded by the natural beauty of our environment.Â
2. Nuno Felting Workshop 6.00-8.00pm
Nuno means cloth. Using silk and wool, we create a new piece of cloth/scarf. A fine length of silk gauze is laid onto bubble wrap, then covered with coloured merino wool, embellished with fibres... then the layers are saturated, rolled and felted. A fabulous new piece of wearable art is created, which is yours to enjoy for years to come!
This workshop is restricted to 6 participants only. So book early to avoid disappointment!
